A Cleaner Look for This 2026 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 ZR2
Sometimes one of the smallest changes you can make to a truck has a surprisingly big effect on how it looks.
A customer recently sent us photos of his new 2026 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 ZR2 after replacing the factory antenna with our Votex 6 3/4-inch short antenna.
The ZR2 already has an aggressive, modern look from the factory, and the shorter antenna fits that styling extremely well.

The customer reached out after installing it and told us:
“Just wanted to say I bought the short antenna to replace the factory one. It's a great product. Great fit, fast service! Love the way it looks on my new Chevrolet Silverado ZR2.”
That is pretty much exactly what we want to hear.
The goal with this antenna was never just to make the factory antenna shorter. We wanted to build something that looks right on the truck, installs simply, maintains strong reception and can handle the kind of everyday use a truck antenna actually sees.

A Direct Fit to the Factory GM Antenna Base
One of the biggest differences between the Votex Silverado antenna and many universal aftermarket antennas isn't something you necessarily notice once it's installed.
It's how the antenna connects to the truck.
Many aftermarket short antennas use a separate threaded adapter. The adapter allows one antenna design to fit several different vehicle applications, but it also creates another connection between the antenna and the factory antenna base.
We took a different approach.
The Votex antenna is designed to thread directly onto the factory GM antenna base on compatible Chevrolet Silverado 1500 models.
There is no separate universal adapter between the antenna and the truck.
That gives you a cleaner installation with fewer pieces, but there is another reason we prefer the direct-fit design.
Every additional threaded connection creates another potential point for looseness, corrosion, poor contact or added resistance. By eliminating the unnecessary adapter and connecting directly to the factory GM antenna base, the Votex design helps maintain a solid connection and a cleaner reception signal path between the antenna and the vehicle.
It's a small detail, but when you're trying to get good reception from a much shorter antenna, the details matter.
Installation Takes Just Minutes
Installing the antenna is about as simple as a truck modification gets.
Unscrew the original factory antenna.
Thread the Votex antenna directly onto the factory GM antenna base.
That's it.
There is no drilling, no cutting, no wiring and no interior panels to remove.
And because this is a direct-fit antenna, there isn't a bag full of universal threaded adapters to sort through before you can figure out which one fits your Silverado.
For most owners, the installation only takes a few minutes.

Short Antenna, but Reception Still Matters
One of the first questions people naturally have about a short antenna is reception.
That's understandable.
The factory antenna is long for a reason, and simply replacing it with a short piece of rubber and metal doesn't automatically result in good AM/FM performance.
That's why there is more going on inside our antenna than you can see from the outside.
The Votex short antenna uses a tuned internal copper coil designed for AM/FM reception.
Copper is highly conductive, and the internal coil allows us to incorporate functional antenna length into a much more compact antenna design.
The direct connection to the factory GM antenna base is also part of the equation. By eliminating the extra adapter connection used by many universal antennas, we reduce another potential weak point in the signal path.
Together, the direct-fit connection and tuned copper coil are designed to provide strong, consistent reception while still giving the truck the short, low-profile appearance customers want.
We don't claim that a 6 3/4-inch antenna will outperform a full-length factory antenna in every possible environment. Radio reception can vary depending on terrain, distance from broadcast towers, surrounding buildings, interference and other conditions.
What mattered to us was developing a short antenna that still performs well in real-world use instead of designing something based on appearance alone.
Customer feedback has been very positive in that area.
More Than 10,000 Ratings
This isn't a new antenna design that has only been installed on a handful of trucks.
The product currently has 10,098 ratings and a 4.7 out of 5-star rating.
Over the years, customers have consistently mentioned many of the same things we focused on when developing the antenna:
Appearance. Fit. Reception. Easy installation. Durability. Car wash resistance.
One verified Silverado owner described the antenna as giving the truck a:
“much cleaner, more modern look”
That customer also reported that the installation took less than a minute and that reception remained just as good as the stock antenna for the stations they normally listened to.
Another thing that comes up repeatedly in customer feedback is how much easier it is to take the truck through an automatic car wash without having to think about removing the antenna first.
That's important because the car wash was one of the environments we had in mind when designing it.

Built for the Weather
A truck antenna doesn't exactly have an easy life.
It sits outside every day through summer heat, freezing temperatures, rain, snow, road salt, direct sunlight and automatic car washes.
That's why the exterior of the Votex antenna is made from durable EPDM rubber.
EPDM is well suited for outdoor use because it resists weathering and temperature changes while remaining flexible.
The material is rated for temperatures up to approximately 257°F, which is far beyond what an antenna would normally experience during everyday vehicle use.
That means the simple-looking antenna you see on the outside combines several different design choices:
EPDM rubber exterior, direct-fit GM mounting and a tuned internal copper coil.
Most owners will never think about those details once the antenna is installed.
That's the way it should be.
Designed for Automatic Car Washes
Automatic car washes are one of the biggest reasons truck owners want to replace their long factory antennas.
A long antenna gives brushes and other car wash equipment much more to grab onto.
A short, flexible antenna dramatically reduces how much antenna is sticking up from the truck.
We designed our short antennas with that environment in mind.
In 2019, we were first to market with a car wash guarantee. If it breaks, we replace it.
We still stand behind that guarantee today.
2-Year Car Wash Guarantee
If your Votex antenna breaks in an automatic car wash within two years of purchase, we'll replace it.
It's that simple.
For a lot of Silverado owners, this is one of the biggest benefits of making the switch.
You shouldn't have to remember to remove your antenna every time you want to run your truck through a wash.
Install it, leave it on the truck and use your truck.
Fits 2006–2027 Chevrolet Silverado 1500
The truck featured in these photos is a 2026 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 ZR2, but this Votex antenna fits a much broader range of Silverado trucks.
Compatible with 2006–2027 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 Models
The antenna is designed around the factory GM antenna mounting system and is compatible with applications associated with factory GM antenna part numbers including:
84170994, 15141455 and 22876544
That gives Silverado owners across more than two decades of model years access to the same direct-fit design.
Whether you're installing it on an older work truck or making one of the first changes to a brand-new ZR2, the process is essentially the same:
Remove the tall factory antenna. Thread the Votex antenna directly onto the factory GM base. You're done.

One of Those Changes That Just Looks Right
What we like most about this customer's 2026 Silverado ZR2 is that the antenna doesn't make the truck look modified.
It almost has the opposite effect.
The tall factory antenna is no longer drawing your eye away from the rest of the truck.
The short antenna sits low on the factory base and blends into the overall design.
That's what we were aiming for.
A replacement antenna doesn't need to become the focal point of the vehicle. It needs to look like it belongs there, provide good reception and hold up to everyday use.
Behind the simple appearance of the Votex antenna are the things that make that possible:
Direct-fit GM threading.
A tuned internal copper coil.
Weather-resistant EPDM rubber.
Simple installation.
And a 2-year car wash guarantee.
The customer who sent us these photos probably summed up the finished result better than we could:
“Love the way it looks on my new Chevrolet Silverado ZR2.”
We do too.
